21 Tara Goddesses: Spiritual Wisdom, Compassion & Protection

In Tibetan Buddhism, the 21 Tara Goddesses, known as Zhuo Ma Nie Jiu in Tibetan, are a group of female deities who help liberate beings from suffering. They are manifestations of Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin Bodhisattva), each with a distinct color and role, working together to protect and guide sentient beings.

Tara appears in six sacred colors: white, green, red, yellow, blue, and black, each representing a unique spiritual energy.

🌸 Origin of the Tara Goddesses

A touching legend tells that Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva once looked upon the six realms of suffering and saw that the pain of sentient beings had not lessened. Compassion filled their heart, and tears fell.

These sacred tears transformed into lotus flowers, from which Green Tara was born. She then manifested twenty additional Tatas in different colors, pledging to assist Avalokiteshvara in alleviating the suffering of all beings.
